Rabbi Stephen Texon

  • Rabbi/Cantor Stephen Texon of Cuban Hebrew Congregation of Miami is a graduate of the Ramaz Yeshiva in New York City, New York University, and the International Opera Center in Geneva, Switzerland. The Jewish composer and conductor, Sholom Secunda, chose the young Cantor Texon to be the baritone soloist in his choir at the Concord Hotel in the Catskill Mountains, New York.

  • He has the distinction of having served both the Aventura-Turnberry Jewish Center as its first fulltime cantor as well as Bnai-Torah Congregation of Boca Raton. Cantor Texon is a long standing member of The Cantors Assembly of America. 

  • In opera, Cantor Texon trained at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, with conductor and chorus master Kurt  Adler, and stage director Herbert Graf. After engagements in Switzerland and France, Cantor Texon sang in full  productions with Richard Tucker, Robert Merrill, Placido Domingo, Tito Gobbi, and Jerome Hines, with the New Jersey State Opera. He has understudied and sung the dress rehearsal of “La Traviata” for Robert Merrill, with that company at Symphony Hall, Newark, and at the Garden State Arts Center. He has also performed with the New York City Opera Education Department in the role of Tonio in “Pagliacci.”
